Recreation
The Recreation Program offers a wide variety of activities designed to develop and enhance the social and leisure skills of individuals with developmental disabilities. Dances, game nights, movies, arts and crafts, and outings to local sporting events are but a few examples of regularly scheduled events. The Recreation Program also supports athletes who participate in Special Olympic events such as skiing, snow shoeing, bowling, track and field, golf, swimming, soccer, flag football, and softball.Activities are primarily focused on persons sixteen years of age and older and occur in the evenings and weekends.
Staff members have extensive experience in working with people with developmental disabilities and have passed backgound checks with the Missouri Highway Patrol and the Missouri Family Care Registry. Additionally they hold certificates in First Aid/CPR, Medication Administration, and behavior interventions.
Activity schedules are published monthly and mailed to inidividuals on the mailing list. They are also available upon request or can be found on this website.
Funding is primarily through the County tax levy and participation fees.
To request copies of the recreation calendar or to sign up for activities, contact Venessa McCloud at 816-891-0990 or venessa.mccloud@pcbsdd.org.
